Cheez Whiz Cheering Competition

GUIDELINES FOR ENTRIES
  1. Open to all elementary private and public school students at any grade level.
  2. Form a team with at least 5 to a maximum of 10 members.
  3. A school can have as many teams.
  4. A team must assign 1 team captain and 1 teacher – trainor/ coach.
  5. To join, the team should submit their Complete Entry Form:
    1. Cheez Whiz Palamantasan Cheering Competition Application Form
    2. Parent’s Consent Form for Each Student/ Team Member
    3. and 1 Cheez Whiz bottle cap for each Student/ Team Member

    Enclose these in an envelope and mail to:

  6. Upon receipt of the Team’s Completed Entry Form, you will receive a Certificate of Participation, a copy of the Cheez Whiz lyrics and a CD copy of the Cheez Whiz music. Each team member will receive a Cheez Whiz Badge
RULES AND REGULATIONS
  1. Each team’s presentation must include the Cheez Whiz lyrics that can be used as a cheer or chant. The musical portion must not exceed 3 minutes and thirty seconds using the Cheez Whiz song (can be requested thru email, CD will be mailed or downloaded from the official contest website).
  2. Total time limit is five minutes. Time will begin with the first movement, voice, or note of music, whichever comes first.
  3. The production number should manifest the physical benefits of Cheez Whiz as a supplemental dairy product and a source of Vitamin A.
  4. The production number must consist of a cheer, chants, calisthenics and dance moves only. Gymnastics routines and acrobatics are prohibited.
  5. Approximate floor size for the production number will be 24 feet wide by 24 feet long.
  6. Signs or props may be used.
  7. Costumes must not show midriff or go higher than 2 inches above the knee. Dominant colors should be orange, blue, yellow and red.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING THE PRODUCTION NUMBER
Musical Interpretation 30% (Responds to the music and timing)
Showmanship 20% (Shows confidence and charisma)
Creativity 20% (Enhances cheer and chants regardless of style)
Choreography 20% (Shows combination of patterns and clean execution of the performance)
Costume 10% (Neat and clean; colorful and provides ease in movement)
PROCESS OF SCHOOL ELIMINATION
  1. A school can have as many teams.
  2. A school can only have 1 team representative for the Regional Eliminations.
  3. A school can eliminate its teams using the CRITERIA FOR JUDGING THE PRODUCTION NUMBER and JUDGING FORM (as attached).
  4. There must be at least 3 and a maximum of 5 judges. The judges can be chosen from the faculty and parents of the school whose student/ child is not participating in any of the teams.
  5. A timekeeper must be assigned to make sure the teams do not exceed or under time 5 minutes. A deduction of 1% from the Final Score of the team will be deducted for every minute or a fraction thereof on overtime or under time.
  6. The team that gets the highest Final Score will go up to the Regional Elimination.
  7. In case of a tie, the tied teams will have to rely on the number of ballots (People’s Choice Award Ballot Sample as attached) from the audience and this will be added to their final score.
  8. Should another tie occur, the judges will have to rescore to determine the winner.
  9. The school can decide the date, time and place of its eliminations.
PROCESS OF REGIONAL ELIMINATION
  1. A Region must have a maximum of 6 schools per region in all regions except in NCR which will have a maximum of 10 schools.
  2. Only 1 group per school is allowed at this level of elimination.
  3. Regional Eliminations are clustered as follows:

  4. Kraft and its affiliates will eliminate the teams using the CRITERIA FOR JUDGING THE PRODUCTION NUMBER and JUDGING FORM (as attached).
  5. There must be at least 3 and a maximum of 5 judges. The judges will be chosen by Kraft and its affiliates who have no affinity up to the 3rd degree of consanguinity to the participating schools, students and teacher – trainor/ coach.
  6. A timekeeper must be assigned to make sure the teams do not exceed or under time 5 minutes. A deduction of 1 point from the Final Score of the team will be deducted for every minute or a fraction thereof on overtime or under time.
  7. The team that gets the highest Final Score will go up to the National Finals.
  8. In case of a tie, the tied teams will have to rely on the number of ballots (People’s Choice Award Ballot Sample as attached) from the audience and this will be added to their final score.
  9. Should another tie occur, the judges will have to rescore to determine the winner.
  10. Kraft and its affiliates will inform the Region of the venue, date and time of the National Finals.
  11. Cash Prize can be utilized for expenses needed to compete for the next level of elimination.

PROCESS OF NATIONAL FINALS
  1. The Regional Team Representative and their teacher – trainor/ coach must go to Manila on ___ (venue, time and place)
  2. Only 1 team per Region is allowed at this level of elimination.
  3. Kraft and its affiliates will eliminate the Regional teams using the CRITERIA FOR JUDGING THE PRODUCTION NUMBER and JUDGING FORM (as attached).
  4. There must be at least 3 and a maximum of 5 judges. The judges will be chosen by Kraft and its affiliates who have no affinity up to the 3rd degree of consanguinity to the participating schools, students and teacher – trainor/ coach.
  5. A timekeeper must be assigned to make sure the teams do not exceed or under time 5 minutes. A deduction of 1 point from the Final Score of the team will be deducted for every minute or a fraction thereof on overtime or under time.
  6. The team that gets the highest Final Score will be declared National Champion Team. The 2nd and 3rd place will go to the next highest scorer and so on.
  7. In case of a tie, the tied teams will have to rely on the number of ballots (People’s Choice Award Ballot Sample as attached) from the audience and this will be added to their final score.
  8. Should another tie occur, the judges will have to rescore to determine the winner.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD
  1. Each attendee of each elimination round will be given a ballot (People’s Choice Award Ballot Sample as attached) allowing the audience to vote for their favorite team to win.
  2. The ballots will help determine the winner/s in case of a tie in all levels of elimination.
  3. During the Regional Elimination and National Finals, an on the spot purchase of Cheez Whiz gives the attendee more ballots to increase the chances of his/her favorite team to win the People’s Choice Award.
  4. The People’s Choice Award is given to the team with the most number of ballots regardless of their ranking or place in the Regional Eliminations or Grand Finals.
